Funded Graduate Student Assistantships at Civil and Environmental Engineering Department, University of Texas at San Antonio



Applications are invited for funded Graduate Student Assistantships to work with Dr.
Firat Y. Testik in the Flow Physics Laboratory (see http://engineering.utsa.edu/ftestik/),
Civil and Environmental Engineering Department, University of Texas at San Antonio
(Texas, USA).

We are looking for two outstanding Ph.D level students who are highly-motivated for a
study on precipitation microphysics at the interface of environmental fluid mechanics,
meteorology, and hydrology.  The research will investigate various rainfall microphysical
quantities such as raindrop size distribution, fall velocity, and morphodynamics.  This
investigation will encompass both field experimental and theoretical components.  Field
experiments will be conducted using both a novel instrument (High-speed Optical
Disdrometer, HOD) that we recently developed and with various standard meteorological
instrumentation. 

Desired qualifications: M.Sc. or B.Sc. degree in Civil / Mechanical / Aerospace
Engineering / Meteorology / Physics / Geology or a related engineering / science field.

Expected starting date is Fall 2018.  The applications for the position will be open till
