Electrical Power & Control Systems (EPCS) Lab/research group at the Maths, Physics and Electrical Engineering (MPEE) Department of Northumbria University, in Newcastle, United Kingdom (www.northumbria.ac.uk) is currently looking for excellent PhD students with strong interests in smart grid and renewable energy.

EPCS group at Department of MPEE has a long history in producing highly trained and qualified personnel for industries along with undertaking breakthrough research in different domains of Power Systems. Our research expertise in EPCS include microgrid operation and power system analysis, distributed energy storage, hierarchical and cooperative control, optimal energy management systems, power system economic and operation, integration of renewable energies in smart grids, energy hub management system and convex optimization with applications in power and energy systems.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in power systems, optimization, operations research, and knowledge of programming in both GAMS and MATLAB. The period of employment is three years and all successful candidates will receive a monthly stipend and a conference and research related travel allowance.
